Facial liposuction removes fatty tissue from your cheeks, chin, and neck. Undesirable, subcutaneous fat that is unresponsive to diet and exercise will be removed. The best candidates for the procedure have good skin tone, stable weight, and fatty deposits within the lower face. This procedure is not intended to treat obesity.
How is Facial Liposuction Performed?
Facial liposuction is performed under iv sedation or general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The surgeon makes discreet incisions in the face or neck. A tiny tube called a cannula is inserted in a small incision, allowing your surgeon to suction out fat. The procedure may take an hour or more. To maintain safety, there is a limit on how much can be removed in one procedure.
Facial Liposuction Recovery and Results
Following liposuction, the scar will go through a maturation process—during the first 8-12 weeks they may be red and possibly raised. The scars will mature over several months and become pale, flat and soft. You may experience numbness, or tingling around the incision site.
These symptoms should be temporary. If weight gain occurs after facial liposuction, fat will be deposited in areas that weren’t treated. However, weight gain may cause some rippling of the skin. The results of liposuction are permanent. Your physical condition, skin elasticity, genetic makeup, diet, exercise habits, tobacco use, and alcohol intake can affect the results.
