Facial reconstruction

Skeletal and soft tissue injuries of the face are all too common and people who experience them often suffer emotional distress because of their disfigurement. Fortunately, there are advanced surgical techniques in facial reconstruction that can be employed to help restore the normal characteristics of a person’s face.

The surgical techniques or methods employed will largely depend on the type of injury and which tissues need reconstruction. Some injuries may only require scar revision and camouflaging, while others may require more extensive procedures.

Injuries from serious trauma will sometimes require both boney reconstruction as well as reconstruction of soft tissues. Reconstructive surgeons will often cooperate with physicians from different disciplines to facilitate the surgery process, often undertaking multiple operations to achieve the appearance goals of a patient.
